Scooby Doo Live Action

Set in the modern world, with known actors and actress's of that time.  The live action films of Scooby Doo would bring the Mystery INC gang roaring into the 21st century.  With a new perspective of the gang as grown ups, looking back at when their adventure as mystery solvers began, this film and its equally successful sequel "Scooby Doo 2: Monsters Unleashed" made Scooby Doo a lasting pop culture icon.

At the time that this film was produced and released to wider audiences across the nation, the Scooby Doo Franchise was still recovering from a slump in viewership in the late 90s.  Creators had hit a significant lull in productions after the end of the series “A Pup Named Scooby Doo” that ran from 1988 to 1991.  Though Hanna Barbera had released standalone movies in the 80s such as “The Reluctant Werewolf,” “Scooby Doo and The Ghoul School,” and “Scooby Doo Meets the Boo Brothers” it would seem that the Scooby Doo Franchise needed a new breath of life to attract the attention of a new generation.

The production of this live action film featuring known celebrities acting out the Gang antics on the big screen would be the breath of new life that the Scooby Franchise needed.  Staring Freddy Prinze Jr. (She’s All That), Sarah Michele Gellar (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), and William Lillard (Scream).  This film grabbed the attention of the youth in generation X, bringing Scooby Doo back into the relevance of popular culture.
